How to Care for Paintings
Preserving artwork ensures it lasts a lifetime and retains its original charm. In this blog, I’ll share essential tips to help you protect and maintain your treasured paintings.
Proper Framing
Invest in high-quality frames with UV-protective glass or acrylic to safeguard your artwork from harmful light exposure. A well-constructed frame also provides physical protection against dust and accidental damage.
Placement Matters
Where you display your painting plays a critical role in its longevity. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, near sources of heat, or in areas with high humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens. These conditions can cause fading, warping, or mold growth.
Regular Cleaning
Gently dust your artwork with a soft, dry cloth or a microfiber duster to remove dirt and debris. Avoid using water, cleaning products, or abrasive materials that could damage the surface of the painting or frame.
Handling with Care
When moving or handling your painting, always use clean hands or wear cotton gloves to prevent oils or dirt from transferring to the artwork. Support the frame from the bottom and sides to avoid pressure on the canvas.
Reflecting on the Process.
Caring for art is not just about maintaining its physical condition—it’s about honoring the creativity and effort that went into its creation. By following these tips, you can ensure your paintings remain vibrant and cherished for generations to come.
